Choose ABS Rapido when the part has a job to do. It holds its shape at temperatures that make PLA sag, takes an impact without shattering, and sands and glues cleanly if you need to finish it. Typical work: enclosure brackets, tool holders, dashboard and engine-bay parts, housings for electronics.
Printing it well
Nozzle 270 °C, bed 80–100 °C. It will run at 200–400 mm/s on a printer that can feed that fast, but speed is not what makes ABS succeed — stable heat is. Print inside an enclosure with the door shut and keep the room free of draughts. That single habit is the difference between a flat part and one with lifted corners.
- An enclosure is strongly recommended. Without one, expect warping on anything wider than a phone.
- Ventilate the room. Low-VOC is not no-VOC.
- If the spool has been open a while, dry it at 60 °C for four hours before a long print.
- Feed the loose end through the hole in the spool side after use, or it will tangle.
On the spool
1 kg of 1.75 mm filament held to ±0.03 mm, mechanically wound and vacuum-packed with desiccant, so it feeds evenly and survives months on a shelf. Eight colours. The stock figure shown above is live from our Tbilisi shop, so if it says two, there are two.
